Shadow growled, he didn't like being ignored. "I am Shadow, you must be Sabre..." He repeated.

Wind laughed slightly as his brother got worked up, but he was silenced by a sharp look from Shadow.

Sabre slowly turned to look at Shadow. He nodded, his eyes never leaving Shadow. Takoda hurriedly trotted over to Nayati. 'Can we get going?' She asked with a slight whine. Nayati nodded.

Shadow's bright amber eyes met Sabre's. A direct challange.

Blake nodded as well. "I am ready when you all are..."

'Then lets go!' Barked Nayati cheerfully. She began trotting up the hill followed by her brother. 'Can you at least act normal please? Stop being so distant!' She growled quietly to him. Sabre said nothing but looked straight ahead. Nayati sighed. He was still the same as ever.

As Takoda followed she let Sabre's thoughts drift into her head. He was so extremely hard to read. It was unlike any mind she'd ever read before. All scrambled with scattered thoughts. Like Sabre didn't want to dwell on one single thought for long.

Shadow followed, he didn't like being at the back... He stared at Sabre with hatred, he hadn't done that to another wolf for a long time...

Wind trotted happily after his brother and the others... His white tail high in the air.

Blake bourght up the rear, he didn't like this Sabre... There was something about him that unnerved him.

Takoda sighed and dropped back. She couldn't be bothered keeping up with Nayati's long strides. She found herself beside Wind. She gave him a grin./

Wind grinned back, Greetings Takoda... I have heard many things about you from Shadow... Is it true you can sense demons and read minds? He asked, rather curious.

Blake bourght up the rear... He didn't like Nayati's brother at all... And he could tell the feeling was mutual.

Shadow led at the front, occasionally looking back at the others. He didn't like Sabre... He'd be keeping a close eye on him...

Takoda shyly glanced at the ground. 'Yes, I can, but its no blessing I'm telling you' she replied bitterly.

Sabre's thoughts were focused only on the mission ahead. He did not think of anything in the past. He did not even dwell on the conversation he had had with these new wolves only moments ago. Every time he spoke to someone, it was like meeting them for the first time.

Shadow stopped suddenly... "There's something ahead..." He said.

Wind tensed himself...

Blake sniffed the air, "Demons..." He spat and growled.

Instintively Takoda stumbled backwards. Sabre's maned head turned to stare at Takoda. 'You need to get away. Or you could end up killing us all' he said firmly.

Nayati growled. She hated demons. They were the only things that her strength could win against. 'Only Takoda or Shadow can fight them right?'

Blake shrugged, "Me and Wind have battled our fair share of demons." He growled as he scanned the area.

Wind nodded in agreement.

Shadow stepped closer to the others and created a shield around them all... "It's an elemental..."

Takoda rubbed against her fur to comfort her.

Shadow looked at them, "An elemental demon, the strongest of the strong... They're formed when a river or a mountain dies..." Then he heard a noise and reeled around...

Blake and Wind were looking around too... Wind saw two dark crimson eyes staring back at him through the bushes.

Takoda twitched. Sabred slowly turned to her. 'I told you to go' he growled. Takoda's eyes grew wide and frightened. She took a few steps back. 'I...I don't want to hurt you...' she whimpered. Then she span around and ran as fast as she could throug the forest putting as much distance between her and her friends as possible.

Sabre looked back at the pair of eyes and his eyes blazed a furious green.

Shadow growled, Takoda had just put them in more danger than she would of before... The shield had been blocking the demon's essence, she wouldn't of gone mad... But by running Takoda had both opened herself to the demon and broken the barrier...

Takoda's eyes were watering against the cold air and she was beginning to tire. She had never ran so fast in her life. All she could think about was the time she had killed a friend. She wouldn't let it happen ever again. It was probably her that made the demon come in the first place. 'They'll destroy the demon, they will' she told herself as she slowed down.

But what if more come? It'll be my fault" she thought. Pa always said I was dangerous and that if I ever belonged to a pack, I'd only bring danger upon them. I need to protect them once and for all' she thought as an idea formed in her head. Changing direction, Takoda began running for the cliffs.

Shadow stopped repairing the shield... "WHAT'S TAKODA DOING?" He barked, "Blake! Wind! Rebuild the shield around you!" He barked and ran off...

Blake and Wind knew better than to question Shadow and made the shield again quickly.

Takoda slowed down as she climbed the sloping hill. It was so much more windy here than down in the forest. She swallowed as she padded up to the edge of the cliff. Lying flat over her tummy she poked her snout over the edge and looked down. It was a long drop. She stood up and took a deep breath.

Back in the forest, Nayati was confused and felt helpless. 'Do nothing' said Sabre slowly reading her body language without even glancing at her. His eyes had not left the red pair hiding amongst the bushes and he continued to stare as she padded closer.

Takoda growled in annoyance at Shadow. She took another step her front paws right on the very edge. She then moved her back paws up to her front feet so it looked like she was balancing on a rock.

'No Shadow, you go back and fight the demon. I'm protecting you all, from demons in the future' Takoda whimpered. She suddenly felt jumpy, uneasy and unsure.

Shadow barked, "NO!" He ran to the cliff edge and snapped his jaws shut... He daren't open his eyes... Had he caught Takoda's tail or had he missed? He slowly opened them...
